Our Ministry
A ministry of welcome and hospitality :
Ushers
are, in many cases, the first "official" faces of welcome and hospitality
that people encounter at St. Mark's. The particular style of any
usher is welcome, but there is a common aim: to be inviting and actively
present in a ministry that allows people to feel comfortable and
at ease here.

Join Us!
Ushers are scheduled for Sunday services and holidays on the Unified
Schedule, a document that is produced about every six months that
coordinates the full range of lay liturgical ministries. Typically,
ushers serve in teams, though substitutions are not unusual. The
time commitment for ushers is not enormous, usually one or, occasionally,
twice a month for one service. Serving as an usher allows plenty
of occasions for worshipping with family or friends or, as necessary,
meeting other commitments away from St. Mark's on a Sunday morning.
