Quilters’ Guild Helps Girls in Haiti with Sanitary Kits

The Quilters’ Guild of St. Mark’s is pleased to report that we have completed our 2023 commitment to send sanitary kits to be distributed to girls in the developing world.

Six years ago we learned of the plight of girls who lack access to monthly sanitary products or proper disposal facilities. These girls would often have to interrupt their education during their time of the month. Following the patterns of “Days for Girls International and with the support of grants from the Alleluia Fund for Outreach of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark, we have been able to create kit bags containing eight washable flannel pads, two waterproof panty shields, two pair of panties, a washcloth and soap, and plastic zip bags to transport soiled product.

Thanks to the work and donations of women of the parish, we are sending sixty kits to Feed the Hunger to be distributed to four schools in Haiti along with their “packathon” food collection in the next few weeks. We feel blessed to be able to serve in this worthwhile ministry.
