Music is thoughtfully and comprehensively woven into the texture of our worship and enhances every aspect of our parish life. Under the direction of George Wesner, our choir leads us in a wide range of styles, from classic hymns, spirituals, contemporary praise hymns and ancient chants.

Service music and other elements of the liturgy adapt to the season of the Church Year, offering variety and interest. In addition to the Hymnal, 1982, St. Mark’s uses Lift Every Voice and Sing II, Wonder, Love and Praise, Voices Found and the supplemental music in Enriching our Music.

At Christmas, Easter, and at other times of the year, the music program incorporates instrumental musicians, further enriching the worship experience.

During the COVID-19 pandemic we adapted to ever-changing public health conditions, first by pre-recording music for worship, then by engaging one or a few choir members to sing for us while we join in our hearts (and homes). As conditions improve we are grateful to once again fill the church with song.

Choir: Under normal circumstances, every Sunday, at 9:00am, our St. Mark’s Choir gets together to rehearse and praise. Our doors are open, our hearts are open, our souls are open. Shy or can’t sing? Play an instrument, accompany, solo or in the last row – let His glory fill the sky! Speak with  Organist and Music Director George Wesner or email splendor.music@verizon.net

Concerts: Our building is an excellent concert setting. Members of St. Mark’s and members of the area’s rich performing arts community have performed here for the public. During COVID-19 our choir and other members of the congregation joined forces to produce Saturday Night Semi-Live an online variety show, as well as a Christmas spectacular.

Our monthly Lion’s Den Coffee House and Open Mic is another venue for musical expression at St. Mark’s which is open to all. We look forward to safely bringing this opportunity back soon… stay tuned!
