Math Adventures and Word Play is a free Saturday tutoring program for students in 2nd-12th grades. What began over fifteen years ago with six students in a single classroom now supports over 100 students. Math Adventures & Word Play strives to create a relaxed, safe and supportive environment where young scholars can develop their mathematics, reading and writing skills for school and fun. Its resource for learning and a place where ideas and information about education and pedagogy are exchanged. The program focuses on bringing scholars to a more advanced level and not just offer remediation. Student-to-student mentoring is a key component to our mission because it helps promote the concept that learning is cool.
MAWP meets from 10:30 a.m. til noon on Saturdays. Although it is supported by St. Mark’s, this is not religious education and families of any or no faith tradition are welcome. Since the onset of COVID-19 the program has operated on Zoom. For more information or to enroll please visit mymawp.org.
